Engagement IdeasThe most beautiful engagement sessions occur in Spring and Fall at the cusp hours of the day. In the warm weather we photograph at dawn or dusk to avoid heat and tourists. In cool weather we photograph during the warmest parts of the day. If you need an early morning engagement session before work, that is totally fine. In Georgetown we always photograph early to avoid tourists. Anytime 7am-11am works great. At Great Falls we can photograph anytime but the best light is early morning. At the Jefferson we often photograph in early morning to avoid tourists. The Jefferson is the only one of our sites which requires a permit. The first one was built just the way Roosevelt wanted: a marble block no larger than his desk. This memorial is a beautiful garden with statuary, fountains and placards in tribute to his ideas. "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself...." his iconic words are engraved on the wall. You can walk along the tidal basin and also see the Jefferson in the background. It is a beautiful spot for a picnic and an engagement session.
Tourists are always getting in the way!
Sugarloaf Mountain Engagement
Sugarloaf mountain and the Strong Mansion are in Dickerson Maryland. The mansion was built at the turn of the 20th century as a summer home for the Strong family. The mansion and mountaintop are one of Maryland's most beautiful sites to hike.
Great Falls EngagementGreat Falls at dawn is one of the most beautiful engagement spots in DC. It is a bit of a hike. Typically we walk the Billy Goat trail up to the falls and back down to the canal. It is well work the walk!
Jefferson Memorial EngagementThe Jefferson is by far our favorite monument, for its beautiful curving lines and view of the tidal basin. From the steps you can also look across at the Washington Monument. This monument is well worth a picnic and a relaxed stroll.
